Videoscaler

What is a Video Scaler?

The video scaler is a special device for improving the signal quality. As a rule, the number of lines is doubled. Parameters for the output signal include: resolution, frame rate in hertz, half or full picture modes and color depth.

How does a Videoscaler work?

A video scaler modifies a signal electronically. Converters that create computer-compatible signals from analog video signals are so-called “upscalers”. Depending on the conversion, the signal can be connected with almost any PC monitor.

In the field of video signals, there is a multitude of different analog and digital signals, such as: VGA, DVI, HDMI, composite, S-Video, YUV, SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI, which are not compatible with each other. With the conversion, the system design is homogenized and allows the common use of switchers and cross rails.
